Hussain Ahmad Najadi, 75, died on the spot after the bullets pierced his chest and left rib cage. His 40-year old wife was also hit by bullets but survived the shooting after she was rushed to hospital. Her condition was reported to be stable.

The incident happened outside a Chinese temple in Lorong Ceylon district in Kuala Lumpur where Najadi was reportedly having a business meeting on a share transaction.

Police said that three men, aged between 35 and 40, waited for the couple to come out of the Kuan Yin Chinese temple in the area where they had a discussion with business partners concerning stock trading. After they left the scene, Najadi and his wife were shot from behind, and the gunmen escaped in a taxi with fake license plates.

Bahrain-born Hussain Ahmad founded Arab Malaysian Banking Group in 1975 before it changed hands in 1982, to what is known as Arab Malaysian Bank or Ambank. The bank has around 200 branches in Malaysia.
