Apple and Twitter strike iOS 5 deal

Reading Time: 1 minute

Apple has anointed Twitter as its preferred social media site, announcing that the new Macintosh operating system, iOS 5, will have full integration with Twitter.  A one-time sign in to your Twitter account will allow for one-touch tweeting from multiple applications, and integration with your contacts.

The announcement came after a disagreement between Apple and Facebook over a different Apple project, music manager Ping.  Since the companies parted ways, Facebook is not associated with Apple in any marketing materials, with Twitter finding itself splashed everywhere.  Many industry analysts suggest that this move by Apple will push Twitter to supplanting Facebook at the top of the social media sphere.
