U.S. agencies do not break out specific data on pirated software because it is typically copied, oftentimes computer to computer, and less likely that there will be bulk physical seizures of counterfeit software than say shipments of watches or shoes. But according to the Coalition Against Counterfeiting and Piracy, the estimated damage of pirated programs to the software industry is $34 billion a year.
