Foodpanda Launches In Laos With 300 Restaurants

The Singaporean unit of food delivery service Foodpanda is expanding into Laos as its ninth country and territory in the Asia-Pacific region after a two-week test run showed strong consumer demand in the Southeast Asian nation of around seven million people..

“Even though Laos is small, it has an interesting eating tradition and we hope to go the extra mile to find the most dazzling dishes to share with our customers,” Jakob Angele, CEO of Foodpanda Asia-Pacific, told the Inquirer.

So far, the Foodpanda app has over 300 curated restaurants available in Vientiane and it is expected that about 50 more restaurant will join by the end of this year. The company plans to expand services to Luang Prabang and Champassak provinces in the near future.

Foodpanda is a food order and delivery service offered through a mobile application available for both iOS and Android. The application allows customers to browse from a large variety of big chain and local restaurants to find the perfect meal with the optimum convenience. The application is available daily from 7am to 11pm on the respective markets.

Foodpanda was founded as a mobile food delivery marketplace in Berlin, Germany, in 2012 and has since expanded across Europe and Asia operating in 40 countries and territories. The company has partnered with over 27,095 restaurants in 193 cities and works with over 15,733 delivery riders. The firm was acquired by German competitor Delivery Hero in early December 2016.
