In grief comes clarity – a tribute

Ever been in a place in your life where hope and doubt is indiscernible?

Been with people where truth and falsehood seem unrecognisable?

Seen events where heroes and villains are indistinguishable?

Given information where panacea and poison looks the same?

Heard tongues utter words you know they never meant to honour?

Been in a crowd where friends and foes are like two peas in a pod?

Well, this planet of ours have been subjected to all of the above.

The one place given to us to honour, we have plainly dishonoured.

Dishonoured in the name of globalisation, free markets, progress, and freedom.

These words, seem like the prophets of saviour yet they have maimed our times.

They have broken families. Instituted discrimination. Raised inequality between mankind.

They have given credence to unvirtuous values in the name of societal honour.

Diminished  virtues of the holy testaments.

They have given recognition to monetary value over human values.

They have but made us , less human with every breath we have left on this short journey.

But amidst this chaos, at the depth of this madness comes true humanity.

Those who see you and can never see themselves through their own lenses.

They befriend you not for the favour you can bring for them.

Not for status, not for recognition even if they knew you could bring them all of these.

They befriend you for they see through you and into your soul.

They see the you, you never knew you even had.

They care beyond flesh and blood could sometimes.

And amidst this chaos, at the depth of this madness comes true mercy.

These are those who walk the earth with no badges of status nor brooches of recognition.

They do not bandy their call cards nor their credentials.

No whims. No self-infatuation. No cravings for trickeries.

They just exist doing what we were created for in the first place.

To be a mercy to the human race.

And should I dare say…

If it was not for souls like these still walking through our paths, touching our hearts, gracing our journeys,

The Almighty would have long perished us all.

For amidst this chaos, at the depth of this madness comes true humanity.

I have seen many selfless faces who have graced my would be short journey in this world.

Those who wipe your broken heart. Those who show you the temporary bend in the road.

Those who extend without expectations. Love unconditionally. Give so generously.

Those who push their boundaries of humanity that it puts your own humanity to shame.

I have seen these people on my journey. They have touched my heart. My soul.

They have propped my hopes, washed away my doubts.

In this world lunacy, I find depth in worshipping my Creator .

For even if I do not understand reasons, I know a bigger plan is woven.

Nothing is accidental. Nothing is ever random.

For the breaths still left in our souls.

The short journey accorded to all of us on this planet.

For the madness that drives our planet, there is a counter sanity that is balancing it.

These are those who really know where their hearts lie.

And for this my purpose in life is ever clearer than it has ever been.

Tribute to Caryn Low.

She touched my life so profoundly in ways I never imagined.
