Gulf oil firms eye Southeast Asia

Major players in the oil and gas industry from the Gulf are increasingly putting Southeast Asia on their radar for expansion. Companies such as Saudi Aramco, Qatar Petroleum, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and others are looking into the opportunity to tap the oil and gas exploration potential of the region, the spokesperson of the 10th Asean Council of Petroleum (ASCOPE) Conference and Exhibition 2013, to be held in Ho Chi Minh City next year, said at a press conference.

ASCOPE is expected to offer between $3 and $5 billion in business opportunities to global oil and gas industry players, My Events International Group Deputy CEO Norman Kumar said.

The three-day event held from Nov 28-30, 2013, will be hosted by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, or Petrovietnam, and is expected to attract about 13,000 trade visitors and more than 300 exhibitors comprising leading oil and gas companies.

ASCOPE is the region’s most prestigious oil and gas event held every four years. The last exhibition was held in Bangkok in 2009.
