Malaysian lady wins Mrs Universe title

Carol Lee Mrs UniverseThirty-nine-year-old Malaysian Carol Lee was crowned Mrs Universe 2013 in the finals of the pageant on August 1e1 on the Caribbean island of Aruba. She is the first Asian to win the international competition.

Lee beat 32 contestants worldwide to clinch the title by garnering 88,649 votes in the online fan votes contest, narrowly beating Mrs USA Amanda Grad who got 88,556 votes.

The Mrs Universe title is a recognition of the “most honourable married woman”, and is awarded to women aged between 25 and 45, taking into account family and career as well as involvement in a significant cause in favour of others.

Lee is a former news presenter and morning talk show host and today runs Starz Studio , a child development and learning center in Kuala Lumpur. she is already the reigning Mrs Malaysia Universe.

She said she spent 10 months preparing, both physically and mentally, for the competition. The theme and initiative for this year’s pageant was ‘Stop Domestic Violence’, which fit into Lee’s championing of nationwide campaigns to assist non-governmental organisations in the fight against domestic violence against women.
