Palestine opens first tech park for start-ups

ezoneLeaders Organisation, a non-governmental group established to socially and economically empower Palestine youth, has launched “eZone”, Palestine’s first mini tech park. eZone will be the hub for tech entrepreneurs in Palestine, providing them a space to learn, network, and obtain resources, the organisation says.

At eZone, Leaders Organisation will host trainings and community events, including trainings, speakers, and networking events. Entrepreneurs will also benefit from two prestigious programmes that provide direct support to technology start-ups and existing small companies through hosting and acceleration.

Key part of the zone is FastForward Accelerator, the first start-up accelerator in Palestine that says it enables start-ups to quickly progress from the idea stage to the market. Through a hosting programme, more advanced start-ups can benefit from subsidised rent (including utilities) on private office space, consultants and entry-level employees.

“With 400 million Arabic language speakers, 80 million users in the Arab world, we see Palestine standing to be the start-up nation of the Arab world in the near future. At Leaders Organisation, we are committed to making this happen through programming that supports tech entrepreneurs every step of the way, and working hand in hand with other programs,” said Shadi Atshan, Leaders Organisation Director.

In addition, eZone includes Bon, a commercial on-site café; an activities hall that can be rented for the use of other entrepreneurship organisations; and a mobile testing lab for tech entrepreneurs to test their apps on different platforms.

Leaders Organization has launched eZone with support from USAID, the US Consulate General in Jerusalem, The Welfare Association, the OPEC Fund for International Development, Mercy Corps and Palestine for a New Beginning.
