Taiwan 4th largest investor in Malaysia

taipei_taiwan_skyline_nightTaiwan ranked as the fourth-largest foreign investor in Malaysia as of the end of 2012, behind Japan, the US and Singapore, the country’s Department of Investment Services under the Ministry of Economic Affairs said on April 17.

Citing statistics released by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, the department said Taiwanese investors had poured a total of $11.57 billion into the country.

The department said Taiwanese investments in Malaysia represent a total of 2,396 deals focusing on the manufacture of electronics, metal products, machinery, garments and wood products.

It added that Taiwanese investors are mostly concentrated around Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru.
