UAE Power Ladies attend Charity Fashion Show Dinner

KUALA LUMPUR: Leading businesswomen from the UAE attended a gala Queen’s Foundation Charity Fashion Show Dinner on Monday night (5 Dec.), soon after their arrival in Malaysia for the Power Ladies UAE-Malaysia Roundtable 2011 tour.

 

The tour, organised by Inside Investor, lasts from December 5-9 and features nine of the most influential and powerful businesswomen from UAE. During their visit to Malaysia, the ladies will meet with government officials and private sector personalities as well as explore investment opportunities in Malaysia.

Mr Kamran Saddique, the Middle East Director for Inside Investor, said he hoped the UAE ladies will be able to make the most of Malaysia’s vast investment opportunities during their visit.

“Women in the UAE are continuing to make waves as businesswomen, CEOs, entrepreneurs, investors and influential figures in national and regional economies,” Mr Saddique said during his welcome speech.

 

“Inside Investor is privileged to be able to bring nine of these women to Malaysia and we are delighted that they have agreed to join us tonight for the Queen’s Foundation Charity Dinner.”

The UAE delegation comprises Raja Easa Al Gurg, Managing Director of major conglomerate Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, with Fatima Obaid Al Jaber, COO of another major conglomerate the Al Jaber Group; Faiza Al Sayed, of the Al Fahim Group; Fathiya Saeed Al Khamari, founder and main designer for Oh, la la! Abbaya Couture; Khawla A Lootah w/o HE Sheikh Khalid M Al Qassami, a Director on the board of WorldSpace Middle East; Sara Ismail Mohamed, CEO of Al Bashayer Investment Company, art enthusiast Samia Abdullah Saleh, founder of the Courtyard Gallery, Huda A Al-Matroushi, Vice President General Services of GASCO, and Nashwa Al-Qubaisi, an Emirati advocate.
Monday’s Dinner, also attended by His Excellency Nasser Abdullah Salmon Al Aboudi, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia, featured a fashion show of traditional Teregganu batik costumes from the Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation, a Royal Terengganu Songket fashion show by Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah as well as flower presentations by Eva Soo to Nik Tarsha, of Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah, and the Power Ladies.

On Tuesday, 6 December, the ladies make a courtesy call on the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, Tan Sri Sidek Mohd Hassan in Putrajaya. They will also be given presentations on Malaysia’s investment environment by the Ministry of International and Trade and Industry (MITI) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) before meeting Datuk Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Secretary General of MITI.
