Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group, a beer and soft drink maker based in Ho Chi Minh City, is looking for foreign investors because it is “in need for a professional management team for its brewery”, the company’s chairman Tran Qui Thanh told the Wall Street Journal.

According to him, several large global beverage companies, including Coca Cola, have already signaled interest in the mid-sized, privately owned company that produces beer, green tea drinks and other soft drinks for a growing consumer market in Vietnam.

However, the company’s beer brands Ben Thanh and Ben Thanh Gold are far less popular than other beer brands in Vietnam such as market leader Saigon Beer or333, Bia Ha Noi and Beer Hue.

According to Thanh, his company’s brewery business is not running at full capacity, cannot utilise all resources including distribution channel and therefore causes the Ben Thanh Beer brand to lose market share.

Investors are predominantly sought for the brewery business, but also for the soft drink and tea segment, Thanh said.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group has an annual turnover of $400 million.
