19-year-old from Cebu named Miss Philippines Earth 2014

missearth201419-year-old Jamie Herrell from Cebu City was named Miss Philippines Earth 2014 during the pageant’s coronation night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, May 11.

Herrell bested 49 other contestants for the title and will compete for the international Miss Earth crown this year.

Meanwhile, Kimberly Covert from Dumaguete City was named Miss Philippines-Water, Dianne Querrer was named Miss Philippines-Air, Bianca Paz was named Miss Philippines-Fire, Monique Manuel was named Miss Philippines-Eco Tourism.

The Miss Earth, which started in 2001, pageant is considered as among the world’s four largest beauty pageants, along with the Miss Universe, Miss World, and Miss International. The Philippines won the Miss Earth title once when then 22-year-old Karla Henry won the 2008 pageant.

Last year’s Philippine representative to the Miss Earth pageant, Angelee delos Reyes, reached the top eight of the contest.
