Businessman from the Philippines tops the 10 richest in ASEAN list 2015
While tycoons from China and India dominate the richest in Asia list, these 10 billionaires will find solace in topping the regional list in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Chinese Filipino businessman Henry Sy Sr. tops the list in the Philippines and across ASEAN with an accumulated wealth estimated by Forbes to be $14.2 billion. The self made billionaire of SM Investments Corporation has retained his top spot as his fellow countrymen moved around the listings from last year.
The list reflects the position of the economic powerhouses in ASEAN with 5 out of the 6 largest economies making up the top 10 richest, with only Vietnam missing out. More than half the list contain businessmen of Chinese ancestry.
