Myanmar and Cambodia have agreed on a mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders of both countries to simplify travel procedures and strengthening existing friendly ties.

The agreement was signed by Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister U Tin Oo Lwin and Cambodian Ambassador to Myanmar Sieng Burvuthin.

Myanmar Airways International, which opened an air route between Yangon and the Cambodia ancient city of Siem Reap in February 2011, now extended the service in November 2013 to reach the Cambodian capital city of Phnom Penh, helping foster the two countries’ links in tourism, culture, trade and investment.

In another development, Myanmar ’s House of Representatives Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann will lead a delegation to Cambodia from December 19-22 to further strengthen bilateral ties.
