Chinese visitors flood Vietnam

Chinese tourists1Chinese visitors to Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2013 increased 34.1 per cent over the same period in 2012, Vietnam’s General Statistics Office said on on December 4. During the period, over 1.72 million Chinese people traveled to Vietnam, ranking first among the sources of foreign visitors, said the office.

In November alone, Vietnam welcomed more than 190,000 Chinese tourists, up 7.6 per cent from October and 18.8 per cent year on year.

According to the department of culture, sports and tourism in central Da Nang city, Chinese tourists to the city increased strongly in recent years. In the first nine months of 2013, the city served over 102,400 Chinese visitors. The figure is expected to increase to 140,000 persons, accounting for one fifth of the total foreign arrivals to the city.

In 11 months, Vietnam attracted 6.85 million foreign arrivals, up 10.2 percent year on year, the statistics agency said.
