Emirates to expand A380 fleet
The Arab world’s largest airline carrier, Emirates, has decided to order even more new airplanes than previously anticipated in the next few months. There had been initial talks of funding the fleet increase through the purchase of bonds, but the recent instability in Middle Eastern countries has led to a search for other methods as well. Even though Emirates has a considerable amount of cash available for expenditures, the amount of plans to be purchased will lead them to pursue other avenues.
The money will be primarily for Airbus A380 planes, the largest in the world. Emirates has recently acquired an Italian airline catering company and paid back the $500mn bond it secured for its last expansion, so they hope to take advantage of some of the many financing options available to them. Their latest financial report will be made available to the public on May 10th.
