Fairmont Raffles to expand in Gulf
Qatar or Jeddah, Saudi Arabia might soon be the recipients of a new Fairmont Raffles hotel complex. The Qatari monarchy has invested US$877million in the hotel’s parent company, and they have recently opened their first two Middle Eastern properties in Saudi Arabia, leading to speculation of expansion in both regions.
Fairmont Raffles’ luxury hotels have made a name for themselves around the world, and have expressed interested in doing the same in the Gulf Coast. They have found relative success with the opening of a hotel in Makkah, SA and will open in Riyadh in 2012. “We definitely want to be in Jeddah, as we do in other cities,” said the company’s VP of operations for the region, David Roberts.
