First Volkswagen service center opens in Myanmar
German car maker Volkswagen has open its first-ever service center in Myanmar in partnership with Singaporean firm Yoma Strategic.
Yoma Strategic’s 70-per-cent held unit, German Car Industries Company (GCI), has entered into a service partner agreement with Volkswagen to operate the center in Yangon.
This center is scheduled to start operations in October 2013, Yoma said on October 23. The service center operated by GCI will provide maintenance and repair services for Volkswagen branded vehicles, including the sale of genuine vehicle parts to existing vehicle owners.
Yoma said this non-exclusive service partnership with Volkswagen strengthens its position in the burgeoning automotive industry of Myanmar, which may potentially become one of the most important automobile markets in ASEAN, following its market and import deregulation.
Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd. is a Singapore-listed investment holding company that engages in the development and management of properties and sale of land development rights and houses and other investment businesses in Singapore, Myanmar and China.
