Former Miss Malaysia wants $760m from ex-husband

DivorceIn what could be the most expensive divorce battle ever in the UK, former Miss Malaysia Pauline Chai, now 66, demands $760 million from her multi-millionaire husband Khoo Kay Peng, 74, one of Malaysia’s wealthiest businessmen, British tabloids reported.

The couple is battling since February 2013 when the divorce petition was lodged and is now with the case at the British High Court. Chai, mother of five, is living in the couple’s $45 million home in Hertfordshire and has been married to her husband since 42 years.

The husband wants the case to be heard in Malaysia because in Britain he would likely be liable for 50 per cent of his wealth, but in his home country he would not be required to hand over such a large amount. He is currently ranked 36 on the Malaysia’s richest list compiled by Forbes but his net worth there is valued at just $275 million.

His wife wants the divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” of her husband.
