General Electric signs gas turbine contract in Saudi Arabia
A new deal between US corporation General Electric and the Saudi Electric Company is expected to bring 100 jobs and 1,680 megawatts of power to the Kingdom’s grids. The US$500 million deal will increase production at 4 SEC plants, which is much needed as demand increases and the summer months approach. Consumption has been rising 6% a year and continues to increase.
GE is set to serve in both an advisor and in testing in the gas turbine industry of Saudi, which is critical to energy production. They will also provide training and support services to workers. US$2 billion have now been awarded in contracts by the SEC to GE.
