Iskandar Malaysia needs more attractions: Najib
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said “much more” needs to be done if Iskandar Malaysia is to achieve its 2025 target of having a GDP of $93.3 billion, local media reported.
He made the remarks after launching Traders Hotel and Legoland Malaysia Resort – two catalytic projects located within the southern development corridor of Johor – on December 10.
Towards that effort, Najib assured the federal government’s unwavering commitment to ensure the success of Iskandar Malaysia, and it would continuously work together with the state government, the private and public sectors and the people in ensuring the region’s growth.
“A lot have been achieved thus far but much more needs to be done if Iskandar Malaysia is to achieve its 2025 target of having three million people, 1.46 million jobs, cumulative investments of $120 billion over 20 years and a GDP of $93.3 billion,” he said.
As of October 31, 2013, Iskandar has attracted some $41 billion in committed investments, mainly in the sectors of manufacturing, properties and infrastructure.
