Japanese firm to design new landmark tower for Riyadh
A Japanese company is to design a multi-purpose tower for a local real estate company in the Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The agreement for the designing of the tower was signed between Naif bin Saleh Al Rajhi, chairman of Naif Al-Rajhi Investment Company, and Nikken Sekkei Group Chairman M. Nakamura in Riyadh last week. Following the signing ceremony, Al-Rajhi said the tower would be located in the heart of the capital along the King Fahd Highway in Riyadh.
Naif Saleh Al Rajhi Investment Company is a Saudi company specialised in investment and real estate development. In the investment sector, the company’s various investments and partnerships are in different areas, including manufacturing, hospitality, project management and engineering, media and advertising, food and beverage and retail.
In the real estate sector, the company has extensive experience in various areas of this sector, starting from mega projects and residential towers, in addition to development of commercial and highly demanded locations, putting our attention to meet the market need and the desire of buyers.
The company also has several involvements in corporate social responsibility, where it spared no effort in supporting the sons and daughters of the country in their successes and creativity to raise Saudi Arabia’s name high.
The proposed tower, which is expected to contribute to the economic development of the country, is yet to be named by the owners of the complex.
Nikken Sekkei is a renowned architectural firm based in Tokyo. It has its origins in a building design company founded in 1900 as part of Japan’s Sumitomo conglomerate. Now a private corporation partly owned by its employees, Nikken Sekkei has completed more than 20,000 projects in some 40 countries.
Among its projects is the Saitama Super Arena in Japan and Jumeirah Gardens, a master-planned city in Dubai, as well as the new stock exchange building in Riyadh and the Islamic Development Bank headquarters in Jeddah. Nikken Sekkei has also designed terminals for Tokyo International Airport and built hotels, city halls, hospitals and office buildings throughout Japan and overseas.
