Kingdom_TowerIn just three weeks, Saudi’s Kingdom Tower is all set to steal the crown of the world’s tallest building: Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. The 1, 000m superscraper project, worth $1.2bn, is backed by Saudi billionaire Prince Awaleed and will be constructed in three phases over the span of five years come January 2012. Main lessons unearthed from building the Burj Khalifa were now revolving around Kingdom Tower, as its designers continue to work around these flaws.

The tower features a Four Seasons Hotel, apartments, three lobbies on the upper floors, and offices on all 157 levels in the halls of the building. Though an amalgam of bank financing, cash and revenue is the plan for this tower, it will cost significantly less than the $1.5 bn Burj Khalifa due to the decline in construction costs after the financial crash. According to Prince Awaleed, this project would be “transformational”.
