Lao Airlines opens route to gambling haven Macao

Macao, East Asia’s gambling hub, will get a direct connection to Laos

Laos and Macao on June 25 signed an air services agreement that opens the commercial air transport market between the ASEAN country and the special administrative region in the south of China.

Lao Airlines said it want to operate charter services to Macao in the future. Both sides agreed to set no capacity or destination restrictions on any airline interested in launching future passenger or routes linking the two destinations

Macao, the gambling hub of East Asia, has also plans to enter flight agreements with Malaysia’s Firefly, which wants to operate charter services between Johor Bharu and Macau starting August 2013. The Philippines’ Zest Airways also applied to Macao’S aviation authority to fly from Manila three times a week, starting October 15.

Lao Airlines is the national carrier of Laos and currently provides international services to Cambodia, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.
