Mashreq launches debut workshop for SMEs in the UAE

mashreqMashreq, one of the leading banks in the UAE, has announced a unique partnership with Arabian Business StartUp Magazine, designed to offer aspiring entrepreneurs, start-up business founders or SME employees the tools to improve, expand or launch their ventures.

The partnership will result in monthly workshops, otherwise known as the StartUp Academy, which will focus on different aspects of a business every month, in order to enhance the knowledge of SMEs and connect them with market experts, the bank said.

Taking place for the first time this month, the workshop focused on ‘Enhancing your digital media offering’; Expert speakers from the industry shared information and market best practices that will help attendees find the best way to use social media for their businesses. The debut workshop received huge turnout from customers, a reflection of the significance of such gatherings to share knowledge and expertise. The entries for these workshops are free of charge.

Commenting on the announcement, Rohit Garg, Head of Business Banking, Mashreq said: “The SME sector is growing at a tremendous rate in the UAE but the awareness rates are not that high within entrepreneurs or business owners. Mashreq has been at the forefront of supporting SMEs towards the growth and sustainability of this segment. These workshops will shed light on the opportunities people can take advantage of and how they can start an enterprise. We want to create a useful pool of information and offering various tools for SME’s to improve and expand their businesses.
