‘Mompreneurs’ enter business stage in Dubai

Dubai’s aspiring mum entrepreneurs on May 10 and 11 had the opportunity to showcase their products and services at Mom Souq’s first stand-alone Mompreneur Market.
Organised in collaboration with Mompreneurs Middle East, the fourth edition of the market took place at the Dubai Ladies Club. Having been part of The Great Parenting Show, Kids Fest, and The Life and Style Show, this was the first time the event took place independently, Arabian Business reported.
Mom Souq was established in 2012 as a classified site for mother entrepreneurs, and has evolved to become an online community and bazaar for numerous businesswomen in the UAE.
Mona Tavassoli, founder of Mom Souq, said: “Mom Souq’s Mompreneur Market gives a unique opportunity to mom entrepreneurs to participate in large exhibitions and events that are not usually affordable for small businesses.
“We are now ready to have our first stand-alone market so that we have more control over the format of the event as well as the activities organised,” she added.
Exhibitors at the event included companies and mother entrepreneurs catering for a wide range of product and service categories such as health, nutrition, fashion, cosmetics, kids fashion, education and fitness.
Apart from the exhibition, the event also hosted a range of fun-filled activities from story-telling, yoga for mothers and babies and dance, to face painting, nail spas and photo booths.
With over 30 companies showcasing products and more than 1,000 expected visitors, the two-day event provided an opportunity for female entrepreneurs and companies to present their business in a community environment, and also an opportunity for networking among parents.
