Myanmar presents airport list for investors

sittwe-airportMyanmar’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) under the Ministry of Transport has announced a list of 30 domestic airports which are looking for private investors to upgrade infrastructure and expand capacity.

The DCA has invited both domestic and foreign investors to develop and maintain the facilities of the domestic airports which represent over 40 per cent of all airports in the country. The Ministry of Transport has budget constraints and is unable to continue running the airports itself.

The DCA has also released the requirements for Registry of Interest for investors. Investors can choose their preferred type of investment either by taking over the whole airport including airport management or by signing a private/public partnership with the ministry which would let them be responsible only for selected sectors.
