OCBC named world’s strongest bank

Bloomberg Markets has released their latest data on the strongest banks in the world, and Singapore’s OCBC (Overseas-Chinese Banking Corp) leads the list.  The rankings consider 5 criteria across the industry, and rank banks with over $100 million in holdings.  Sweden’s Svenska Handelsbanken AB came in second, with the National Bank of Canada coming in third.

Two other Singaporean banks, DBS Group Holdings and United Overseas Bank, came in 5th and 6th, respectively, on the list. OCBC’s CEO, David Conner, states that “it is an honor, not just for all of us in Singapore, but also for the big family of OCBC Group in Southeast Asia…” to be named to the list.
