Only 5% of Americans have a tablet
Despite the ubiquitous presence of tablet computers in movies and television, not to mention advertisements, a Nielson survey reports that only 5% of Americans are using one. Of those numbers, about 80% are using the Apple iPad. In smaller markets like the United Kingdom, only 1.7% of responders report using a tablet computer.
This puts the tablet’s penetration of the market much lower than mobile or smart phones, but leaves a large amount of consumers available to advertisers for new tablet purchases. Tablet users are sought after by advertisers, as they are more likely that computer or smartphone users to pursue the displayed product.
