SABIC and Sinopec building polycarbonate plant in Tianjin

Saudi Arabian petrochemical corporation SABIC has announced another joint venture with Chinese company Sinopec. They plan on partnering on a massive polycarbonate plant that could produce up to 235,000 tons per day.  This new facility will be located in Tianjin Province, China, where the two companies also built a 2.7 million ton a year petrochemical refinery.

SABIC, one of the largest manufacturers of petrochemical products, is seeking to expand it and Saudi Arabia in general’s hold on the Chinese oil market.  Demand in China is increasing exponentially.  The new polycarbonate facility is slated to open in 2015.  The cost is unknown.
