Singapore bus driver sacked for nail trim (video)

SG bus driverA bus driver employed by Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit authority, or SMRT, has been fired after being caught on a video trimming his fingernails while driving on bus 858 along an expressway from Singapore’s Changi Airport to the city-state’s northern suburbs.

A 29-second video posted on Facebook showed the driver resting his left hand on the steering wheel while trimming the nails with a clipper held in his right hand. He then takes both hands off the steering wheel to examine his work.

SMRT officials said on August 14 that the driver has been “disciplined” and dismissed immediately.

It was not clear how fast the bus was driving at the time. The maximum speed limit on expressways is 90 km/h.

In January 2013, SMRT fired a bus driver after he was caught on camera watching an animated film on his iPad while driving.
