‘Smart Technology 2.0’ will change business and industries: LG

smartTechSmart technology will increasingly transform our lives and will continue to do so as it is joined with other industries. This was the key message of Kim Dae-hoon, president of LG CNS, the information technology subsidiary of South Korean technology giant LG Group, at the group’s annual tech conference Entrue World 2014 held on April 17 in Seoul.

About 1,500 officials from the IT industry and academia shared the personal IT strategies that they use for management along with other IT trends in the management field, the Joongang Daily reported.

“We hope to provide strategies to lead and counter the smart generation at Entrue World 2014,” said Kim. This year, LG CNS introduced ways to keep up with evolving technologies through its Smart Technology 2.0.

Kim said Smart Technology 2.0 will promote the expansion of smart devices, network connectivity, big data, cloud services and the convergence of technology and industry. In particular, he emphasised the industrial uses of big data and explained the pre-emptive measures to counter “advanced analysis” that predicts individual behaviours with big data.

The CEO explained how Smart Technology 2.0 will be combined with industries – such as automotive, medical, retail, home, transportation, security and manufacturing – to create the Internet of Things. Kim explained that LG CNS is promoting Smart Technology 2.0 in its global transportation platform business – which entered the European transportation card market in Athens last March – as well as electric car sharing services, global medical solutions, mobile commerce platforms and intelligent CCTV solutions.

“LG CNS’ strong will to lead the future of the smart world with user-centric smart technology and smart convergence is included in the LG CNS ‘Vision 2020’ released in 2010,” Kim added.

Joi Ito, director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab, who gave a keynote speech at the conference on innovation and the great disruption, also explained the impact of innovation on the business environment. LG CNS employees and experts gave presentations on big data, smart security, the Internet of Things and smart services.

At the event, 11 tech developments by LG CNS, such as the quick payment service Mpay, groupware ikep and the energy-saving smart green solution, were exhibited.
