Thai online marketplace BentoWeb is preparing for an Asian expansion. The company has spent the last 15 months incubating in Thailand and has achieved such success that foreign profits seem a near certainty.

BentoWeb provides a unique service that is growing in demand in Asia – it facilitates online commerce. That is, the company provides an online platform where businesses can ply their wares. It is an online marketplace where companies are given a distinct webpage, like a space in a shopping mall, where they can list their products for sale. BentoWeb then processes online purchases and arranges shipping for the products. Customers can even purchase products through BentoWeb on social media sites and mobile apps.

The founder of the company, Nutthaseth Sirinanthananon, started out by creating a website to help his family’s small-business increase sales. The website was so effective that family friends started asking him to help them with their businesses as well. After building a few distinct websites for individual businesses, he decided to accommodate all of the requests for assistance he was receiving by creating a single online platform. Thus BentoWeb was born.

From these humble beginnings, BentoWeb has grown to currently offer more than 50,000 products from more than 15,000 merchants. The next step is to start marketing in Indonesia, Singapore, and Japan.
