US medical cannabis company partners with Thai distributor

US-based Australis Capital Inc. – doing business as Audacious – has entered a joint venture with a Thai partner for the distribution of cannabis-infused products and related services in Thailand, only a month after it opened the first foreign-operated medical cannabis clinic in Thailand.

Las Vegas-headquartered Audacious partnered with Thailand-based Golden Triangle Holdings, a spin-off of Bangkok-based, Thai stock exchange-listed NR Instant Produce, which manufactures and distributes a variety of ethnic, plant-based and functional food and beverages under its own brands

With NR Instant Produce, Audacious opened the first Herbidus Medical Center in central Bangkok in March this year, which is also the first medical cannabis clinic in Southeast Asia supported by a US operator.

Global standards for cannabis treatment

Herbidus is among the first clinics in entire Asia that can prescribe cannabis for medical treatments in compliance with the law. It uses medicine approved by Thailand’s Government Pharmaceutical Organization and is staffed by doctors that follow global standards for use of cannabis in patient treatment.

“Interest in medical cannabis is expanding rapidly in Thailand,” Terry Booth, Audacious’ CEO said.

“With the opening of the Herbidus Medical Center, we are looking forward to bringing our cannabis expertise and seasoned corporate leadership to the Thai cannabis market. This is one of several initiatives that we are embarking on with Golden Triangle Health, which along with its parent company enjoys robust distribution channels across Thailand, as well as capabilities for cannabis product manufacturing,” he added.

Sales and distribution partners country-wide

In the joint venture with Golden Triangle Holdings, Audacious plans to develop and distribute non-intoxicating cannabis products including beauty creams, herbal medicine, spa treatments and beverages. Among the sales and distribution partners are around 10,000 7-Eleven supermarkets, consumer good company Loxley, duty-free operator King Power, oral care provider Dentiste Oral Care and beauty product provider Smoothe.

The US cannabis know-how is seen as a big push for the industry in Thailand. While today various Thai companies sell cannabis-infused products in shopping malls and restaurants with big cannabis leaf logos, Thailand is far behind sophisticated marijuana technology developed in the US and Canada in terms of cultivation, research, medical product design and quality control.
