Vietnam to host leading oil and gas event

Vietnam will be the host for Southeast Asia’s largest oil and gas conference in 2013, the country’s news agency VNS announced on July 21.
The 10th ASEAN Council of Petroleum (ASCOPE) Conference and Exhibition will be held for the first time in Vietnam.
The theme of the event, which will take place from November 28-30, 2013, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, is ‘Innovation & Cooperation – The Way Forward’.
Held every four years by ASCOPE member nations, the event will be hosted by PetroVietnam and managed by Malaysian event management company My Events International.
PetroVietnam’s general director Do Van Hau said the conference aimed to enhance relation and cooperation in the petroleum industry among ASEAN members, as well as offer them opportunities to exchange experiences and technical know-how with international oil companies worldwide.
Hau said ASCOPE members often discussed cooperation opportunities and revealed that PetroVietnam, together with Petronas of Malaysia and Pertamina of Indonesia, had established close ties to work together on exploring oil and gas in the three countries.
During this event, Hau expected more cooperation and contractual negotiations among petroleum corporations, services and consultancy agencies would be further discussed.
The event is expected to draw about 300 exhibitors and 500 conference delegates from in and outside the region.
